Privacy and cookies

Short and plain. This is everything the site collects, and why. Questions go to books@48laws.co.

What you give us

If you sign up for the free first floor or the First Job Pack, we keep your email (and first name, if you give it) on our email list so we can send what you asked for. You can unsubscribe at any time. If you write to the inner circle, your name, email and message are emailed to the author so he can reply.

If you buy the ebook, Stripe takes the payment. We see your email and whether the payment went through, never your card number, and we email your download links to you.

What the site remembers

A cookie that remembers your cookie choice, for six months. Your country, worked out from your connection by our host, so the buy button opens the right Amazon store, plus the country you pick by hand if you change it. If you arrive from one of our ads, the site remembers that for seven days in your browser so we can tell which orders the ads brought in. None of these is used to identify you.

The Meta pixel

With your OK we run the Meta (Facebook and Instagram) pixel. It tells us which ads bring readers here, which pages they read and whether they go on to buy the book on Amazon or the ebook here. Meta sets its own cookies to do that and may use the data to show you ads. In the UK, the EU, the EEA and Switzerland it stays off until you accept. Elsewhere it runs unless you say no.

Change your mind at any time: tap (also at the foot of every page) and switch Marketing off.

Amazon

The buy buttons go to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate the author earns from qualifying purchases, so those links carry an Associates tag. What happens on Amazon is covered by Amazon’s own privacy notice.
